Johanna Bundon is an independent artist whose practice includes dance and theatre performance, choreography, teaching & gathering. Johanna has made robust contributions to the development of new work & creation processes in Saskatchewan in both dance & theatre over the past 15 years. Her capacity to embody ideas, and to create a generative space for new work to thrive, has made her a sought after collaborator by performers and artists across disciplines.

Johanna’s choreography has been presented by New Dance Horizons, Globe Theatre’s Sandbox Series, the National Arts Centre’s Prairie Scene Festival, the Prairie Dance Circuit and across the country through ongoing experiments in live & digital performance with Untitled Peter Tripp Project (created alongside Jayden Pfeifer & Lee Henderson, 2018-present). In the fall of 2023, their collective bundonpfeiferhenderson created a choreographic response as part of ‘MAGDANCE5 art+dance+archive’, presented by New Dance Horizons and Mackenzie Art Gallery. Other movement-making projects of note include: Ru(elles) - a trio commissioned by FadaDance Troupe (2015), the understory - co-created with bee pallomina (2015), and Live Duet - co-created with husband-artist Jayden Pfeifer (2016).

Last Spring, Johanna & Jayden commissioned a new contemporary dance work by choreographer Connie Moker-Wernikowski (2023). Johanna also danced work by Robin Poitras & Edward Poitras,
The Last Caribou (Push Festival, January 2023), and Quadriga (ongoing process, 2018-2023).

As an Artistic Associate of Curtain Razors, Johanna has been integral to the operations and vision of the company since 2016. She has been a lead artist on several company projects including: Moveable Feast Independent Artists Edition (2016), Trespassers Waltz (September 2020) and Getting to Room Temperature (February 2022).

As a curator and community organizer, Johanna has instigated numerous gatherings for sharing and learning, including Community Office Hours (Curtain Razors, 2021 -2022), Conversations for Love + Loss (Spring 2022), SIT UP Regina: an Urban Mindfulness Retreat with Michael Stone (Heritage Community Association, 2015).

Johanna is an active arts advocate, with a special interest in artist-parenthood, peer mentorship, and better standards of practice for independent artists making work in Saskatchewan.

Johanna is a graduate of LADMMI: Les Ateliers de Danse Moderne de Montreal (2005), San Diego 4 Feldenkrais Professional Training Program (2020), Globe Theatre’s Actor Conservatory (2008), and has a BA in Arts & Culture from the University of Regina (2013). She is currently teaching contemporary dance technique and the Feldenkrais Method through New Dance Horizons’ Dance Core program.
